Access to Leisure Day

In late 2000 we held the first access to leisure day and this really gave disability work in South Gloucestershire a focus. Lots of opportunities were highlighted and the event was attended by over 300 people with activities from 10am to 11pm.
Special Needs Judo in particular signed up lots of new members and the club at Bradley Stoke has gone on from strength to strength ever since. This event gave us more knowledge of both local provision but just as importantly the gaps in provision. Addressing these gaps then became the key focus of the forum’s work over the coming months and years. |
