17 January 2007: Come and Try Session

Pupils from both Primary and Secondary Schools were invited to a ‘Come and Try Session’ at Yate Leisure Centre on January 17th 2007. It was an opportunity to participate in some of the activities that can be enjoyed at the Inclusion Club’s run weekly throughout South Gloucestershire by the Community Coaches.

Seven schools accepted the invitation to this new initiative: Kingsfield, Brimsham Green, Stoke Lodge, Raysfield, North Rd, Culverhill and St Michael’s fifty five children had a fantastic morning of physical exercise, stopping just briefly mid morning for a drink.

The activities included: Judo, Hockey, Basketball, Boccia, New Age Kurling and Football.
The activities were run by the community coaches and students from Marlwood and King Edmund Secondary Schools, without such fantastic support the morning would not have been so much fun for everyone. The range of activities ensured that the interest of all pupils was maintained throughout the session.

Many thanks to Alison Finn Wesport for ensuring the coaches could help, to the three coaches for working non stop all morning! To the eight students from King Edmund and Marlwood School for learning new activities in minutes and then having the confidence to deliver these new skills to a whole range of pupils.
